Name: Chris Arbuthnott

Position: Developer

One word that describes you?

Scary movie or happy endings?

Both! If I have to choose one – scary.

Favorite smells?

Mowed grass, rapid running water.

Do you have any special talents or hobbies?

Juggling! I also read science and philosophy.

How would you describe your fashion sense?

What phone do you have? (iOS v Android?)

Android, a couple of versions behind the times

Tell us one of your bad habits!

I eat lots of sweets, especially ice cream when I can get it.

3 things that upset you?

Leaving jobs unfinished, using dogmas instead of really thinking, and misuses of the word “literally”.

3 things that make you happy?

Looking through used books, listening to great music (headphones, loud), and spending time outdoors, especially wooded areas.

Are you an extrovert or introvert?

Introvert – but I still like to chat sometimes

If money were no object what would you get for your next birthday?

One of a list of home renovations – possibly the supplies to build a wooden deck.

What is your favourite snack?

Ice cream! But I also love hot drinks, like coffee.

What inspires you?

I find certain sorts of music very inspiring. In terms of inspiring people, I find insight and the ability to “think outside the box” very inspirational in others.

What’s your favourite way to pass time?

I love reading – the very best is warm summer evenings, in a hammock we have under some trees in our back yard.

What tv show are you watching right now?

I just finished a season of “NYPD Blue”. It’s an old show, but the latter seasons are just becoming available on dvd for the first time (and they are still great!).

Are you a dog person or cat person?

I grew up with dogs, but have kept cats for many years. I think their independence makes their affection mean more!

Do you have a tattoo?

Yes, three. Both my kids names, and my largest one is one I got with my brother Shane – I had finished a math degree, and he had finished a course at Vancouver film school. Mine is an unrolling scroll with an infinity sign.

What is at the top of your bucket list?

I’m really content actually! But if reality is no impediment, I’d like to feel what no gravity feels like (like in orbit or in deep space) sometime in my life.

Which store would you choose to max out your credit card?

JWD – John W Doull Used Books.

Last song you listened to?

I’m trying a Beck CD from the library in the car. I like it medium. The last song I heard was “Up All Night”.
